Tag Sale

Dear students, friends, and Bodhisara supporters,

Bodhisara Dharma Community will be sponsoring a spring tag sale on the Amherst Common Saturday, May 16. Please mark this on your calenders. To do this event we will need a lot of help from people like you who participate in our classes, retreats, and events and value what it offers to the Amherst community. And I think this will be fun for all who participate. I helped the last two years in the Ultimate tag sale for Sam's Ultimate team and found it an enjoyable and social experience.

First and foremost, we need stuff to sell. Please go through your stuff and identify what is in good condition and you can imagine will sell at such an event. I have put a list at the bottom of this email of items we can use and items we cannot use. (Please, nothing we will have to pay to dispose of after the event.) This can actually be a part of your practice--relinquishing old stuff you are holding onto, opening up more space in your houses, garages and lives. And of course, practicing generosity. I will send instruction in a later email about how to bring your stuff to us the week before the event.

Secondly, we need people with vehicles to help move the stuff out of a garage on Amity street and bring it to the Common. We also need people with vehicles and dump stickers to dispose of unsold items we cannot donate to charity afterward. Vans and pickups are particularly useful, but ordinary cars help too.

Thirdly we need workers to sign up for 2-hour shifts at the site to collect money and convince reluctant buyers of good deals and the good cause. The sale will go 8:30-2, though the shift on the common will start at 8 AM so there are people to set out the stuff arriving. Much of the final shift will be helping to load and divide potential donations from dump-worthy stuff.

Fourthly, we could use more tables for setting stuff out. Old blankets to set out on the ground help too.

Finally, you can tall your friends to come and buy some stuff yourself.
